Hello, I'm Sue S.
Hi, I am Sue! I am proud owner of the title South West Home Cook of the Year, a competition headed up by Michelin Star Chef Michael Caines. I won the title two years running (2016 & 2017) which has led me onto a wonderful and exciting cooking journey. I live in Exmouth with my family and I love to cook! I like to champion local produce and suppliers and cook what I can using the wonderful food and drink larder we have here in Devon. I have demonstrated at Food and Drink Festivals all over the country, taught cooking at a local primary school, and now write for food magazines including Devon Life and Taste Buds Magazine. My claim to fame was an appearance on TV with the celebrity chef James Martin. Along with two foodie friends, I am delighted to be involved with the award winning blog Dining Devon, where I review local eaterys and share my own recipes. When I am not cooking in my kitchen at home, you will find me cooking outside on my BBQs. I demonstrate cooks on the Kamado Joe bbqs for The Chefs’ Forum, an organisation which helps engage students looking to enter into the food sector, working with catering colleges, forming a link with the hospitality industry, restaurants, hotels and suppliers. I also write for the BBQ magazine and during lockdown, did live cooks on the CountryWoodsmoke BBQ Facebook Group page and now have my own YouTube Channel ‘Cooking with Sue’. You can also find me on Twitter @Sue_Stoneman and Instagram @sue_stoneman I love making my own bread, cakes, desserts and hosting dinner parties (which isn’t possible at the moment). This is where I love the idea of Larks Live, bringing family and friends together taking part in a fun activity and not being able to visit cookery schools at present, you get to welcome the chef tutor into your own home and cook in the comfort of your own kitchen. I am inspired by dishes I see in magazines, in my many cookery books (I have lots!), on the television and from top chefs I have been fortunate to work with. I enjoy passing on my hints and tips to fellow home cooks or budding chefs wishing to improve their cooking skills or techniques.
